Lapeer Days returns to downtown Lapeer

LAPEER — It’s here. The midway will open at 5 p.m. this evening, beginning the Lapeer Days in downtown Lapeer. As has come to be expected of the event, the Lapeer Days Festival will have something for everyone, offering plenty of food, activities, and entertainment for all ages. After taking a year off in observance of COVID restrictions, the five-day festival is set to make its return this summer — and in spectacular fashion.

The 99-year-old festival will host live performers on two different stages downtown starting Friday and continuing until Sunday evening. Headliners this year include country music singer-songwriter Cam, performing Friday night on the Main Stage, and platinum-selling recording artist Uncle Kracker, set to perform Saturday night from 10:30-midnight on the Main Stage.

Thanks to the Skerbeck Family Carnival, rides will be open through Sunday, with pay-one-price admission armbands available each day rides are open. Along with carnival rides and musical entertainment, this year’s attractions and activities will include a talent showcase, kiddy carnival games, soap box derby, craft show, helicopter rides, cornhole tournament, clowns, magicians, pancake breakfast, a classic car show and much more.

The annual parade will take place Saturday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m. Local groups and businesses will build floats in accordance with this year’s theme, which is “Lapeer Days ROCKS!” All floats will be judged based on decoration and style, with awards given to the winner.

Lapeer Days is produced by the Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce, with major sponsors View Newspaper Group and DTE Energy. Visit the festival’s website, www.lapeerdays.com, for the full schedule and information on all entertainment, new events, parade entry forms, craft show, vendor space, and more.
