Lapeer County Road Commission equipment, road signs vandalized overnight in Imlay TownshipFree Access

IMLAY TWP. — The Lapeer County Road Commission and Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. are asking for the public’s help to identify suspects who vandalized equipment, road signs personal property on Doran Road in Imlay Township. The vandalism occurred Tuesday night. Damaged equipment included an excavator parked overnight along the road.

“We try to keep our equipment in tip-top shape. This equipment, as well as our signs are purchased with taxpayer dollars,” said a statement on the Road Commission’s Facebook page. “This vandalism becomes costly as we have to send crews out to replace the signs that were painted over. The vandalism to our equipment causes expensive downtime while it is being repaired.”

Other residents noted smashed mailboxes on Shaw and Church roads, also sprayed with a pink or red colored spray paint. Another resident said his vehicle was vandalized with paint as well.
