Dryden to face Almont in alumni game this week

DRYDEN — The annual Dryden vs. Almont Alumni Basketball Night is slated to take place Saturday at Dryden High School as alumni basketball players from both Dryden and Almont are gearing up the square off for the second consecutive year.

This year, two games will be held with a Rookies game featuring those that graduated from 2004-2018 and a Legends game featuring graduates from 1950-2003. Last year, only one game was held with a total of 24 past alumni from both Dryden and Almont competing.

“We are excited. We added a few players to each squad in order to have two games,” said Dryden head coach John DelCampo.

Though the alumni games will be the feature event of the evening, DelCampo noted there will also be many other contests for all to participate in, including free-throw contests, three-point contests and a half-court shot contest. A reception after the game will also be held at a to-be-determined site to continue the fun into the evening.

DelCampo noted there are still a few available spots on the Almont squad for last-minute entries. For more information on playing, please contact DelCampo at coachdelcampo@aol.com or at 586-918-3220.

The Rookies game begins at 6 p.m. and the Legends game follows directly after. Tickets for the event will be available at the door for $5, with doors opening at 5 p.m.
