Give ‘The Busker’ a chance

People need to give the Busker Fest a chance. Don’t shoot it down on social media like a coward, especially if you’ve never been to it. People need to support their town and their festivals because they make money for non-profit organizations. Give The Busker a chance.

Rocked by gravel dispute

Thank you Mr. Hogan for reminding people (Wednesday, June12 editorial) about the importance of the gravel mine dispute to Metamora and Dryden. It bothers me that a lot of people don’t think it’s a big deal. They don’t live on Dryden Road.

Important to recycle

If not a deposit on water bottles, sports drinks and stuff like that it would be great if Lapeer County had mandatory recycling. If you leave it to the trash haulers and the people they will say it’s not worth their time, but people need to do a whole lot better to recycle their plastic, paper and cardboard. If it’s required it will become second nature.

‘Insensitive and ghoulish’

It’s insensitive and ghoulish to take pictures when someone’s house is burning down. How would you like your worst day splashed all over the front page of the paper? A fire is a tragic thing. The County Press doesn’t have to make it worse.

Grass dangerously high

People need to cut their tall grass at the road. It’s dangerously high in many places. Own up to your responsibility and cut the grass before someone gets hurt.

Ban cell phones in vehicles

On Wednesday on Van Dyke in Almont an idiot on her cell phone turned into my vehicle. She was talking on her phone and never saw me. They need to ban cell phones in vehicles. I’m sick of it!

Kindness hit sweet spot

My son and I were impressed by the generosity of a man who bought our dinner at Dairy Queen. He said “make sure you buy some ice cream for your boy” and handed me $23.
