Davison Road project to start July 8 in Lapeer

LAPEER — The Lapeer Dept. of Public Works on Monday announced that a rehabilitation project of Davison Road from Millville/DeMille Boulevard to the roundabout at Lake Nepessing Road will begin the week of July 8 and should be completed by Aug. 5.

Ace-Saginaw Paving Co. was awarded the bid for the project.

A grant totaling $375,000 from the Michigan Dept. of Transportation (MDOT) to increase safety and improve road conditions on the road was awarded to the City of Lapeer. The money will come from MDOT’s Transportation Economic Development Fund. The overall cost of the project is $678,000. The City of Lapeer share for the project is $303,000.

The project will include the milling off of one inch of current roadway that includes a center turn lane, with an additional three inches of asphalt to be put down for a total of four inches of new asphalt. New shoulder gravel will also be constructed where needed, as well new signs and drainage improvements.
