GAIL NOLIN, 75, of Sylvan Lake, died

Tuesday, May 14,

2019 at Ascension

Providence Rochester

Hospital (formerly

Crittenton Hospital) in

Rochester Hills.

Gail Amy Nolin was born February 6, 1944, in Almont. She was the daughter of the late Donald and the late Barbara (Treadgold) Nolin. She grew up in Imlay City. Gail attended school in Imlay City and is a graduate of Imlay High School, Class of 1962. She continued her education at Michigan State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Education in 1966 and then her Masters of Education in 1971.

She was employed as an elementary school teacher and staff development consultant for Waterford School District for 34 years before retiring in 2000. Gail worked at the Imlay City Schools Summer Playground programming and Flint Area Girl Scouts as a camping leader during summers while she was in college.

Gail was a member of the Waterford Education Association (an Executive Board Member), Michigan Education Association (Michigan Board of Directors and the MEA Retirement Board) and the National Education Association. During the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s, Gail was very politically active with the Democratic Party (she was a Michigan Democratic Party Officer–At–Large). Gail received recognition from the Michigan State Senate as well as a U.S. Congressional Recognition.

She is survived by her sisters, Nancy (Anthony) Barry of North Branch and Lynn (Cathy King) Nolin of Imlay City; her brothers, James (Diana) Nolin of Attica and Dallas Nolin of Imlay City; her sister-inlaw, Joyce (Donald) Capman of Lapeer; and several nieces and nephews.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Barb Nolin; her two brothers, Gary Nolin and Les VanderArk; her nephew, Derek Nolin; and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Nolin.

The funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City. Michelle Lamb officiated. Interment followed at Imlay Township Cemetery.
