IMLAY CITY

Coach Bob Peterson said his Spartans “put up a good fight”. Lapeer coach Bob Jannuzzi added, “I thought Imlay City played well, they had some really outstanding players that were making it difficult for us. Hats off to them.”

“Imlay’s defense continues to get better with a really strong showing from Alisa Moreno and Brisa Vargas,” Peterson added. “We clawed our way back to 2-3, but injuries took over late in the game leaving three starters hurt on the bench at the end with many more banged up. Katlyn Judd played her best game yet in the midfield with a long distance goal. Kayla Lousma scored the second goal on a hardfought play to get herself open to take a nice shot from the side. Goalie Gia Hart protected the net with 28 saves for the night.

The Spartans beat former Blue Water Area Conference rival Capac 6-1 Wednesday afternoon at Imlay City. Imlay City led 2-0 by halftime and dominated the game according to Peterson. All 15 Imlay City players contributed to the win.

“Midfielders Amanda Bigger, Katlyn Judd and Jacqueline Perry controlled the game from the start,” said Peterson. “Over 30 shots on goal were taken.”

Goalkeeper Alexis Ostrom made six saves to earn the shutout. We must do a better job finishing opportunities”

On a cold and windy afternoon, the Broncos were shut out 5-0 by Clio at home on Wednesday.
