RICHARD (DICK) LEE GOODRICH


 

 

RICHARD (DICK) LEE GOODRICH, of Grand Rapids (formerly of Attica), went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, having battled Multiple Sclerosis since 1979.

Dick was born December 9, 1942, the second son of Arnold and Elaine (Wilder) Goodrich of Attica. He graduated from Imlay City High School in 1961 and Adrian College in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. At Adrian, he earned four varsity letters in football, four in baseball and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. After college, he joined the U.S.

Navy, graduating from the United States Navy Officer School in 1966. Having served four years, he was honorably discharged in 1969 as a Lieutenant. Dick went on to enjoy two 20 year careers with Ryder Truck Rental as Executive District Manager and Michigan Kenworth as Vice President Fleet Sales, both in Grand Rapids.

Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha (Thomas) Goodrich; three children, Robert (fiance Becky Taylor) Goodrich, Randall (Peggy) Goodrich and Melissa (Frank) Gardocki; eight grandchildren, Kayla (Travis) Schaner, Tyler Goodrich, Kendra (fiance Cody Ireland) Goodrich, Alexander Goodrich, Shayna Goodrich, Morgen Gardocki, Wyatt Gardocki and Mallory Gardocki; great-grandson, Korbin Schaner; sisters, Ruth Ann (Willard) Prey and Carol Collins; and brothers, Dean (Helen) Goodrich and Dale (Donna) Goodrich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Blanch Thomas.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m. at Cascade Christian Church, 2829 Thornapple River Dr, SE, Grand Rapids. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Rev. Jill Forton will officiate.
