‘Rewards Card’ program offers incentive to shop downtown Lapeer

LAPEER — Last year, the Lapeer Main Street Downtown Development Authority (DDA) partnered with Lakestone Bank & Trust to create a little positive incentive to shop local. The initiative was so successful, they’re bringing it back.

Started Feb. 1, shopping locally could earn downtown visitors some extra dough and comes with the extra reward of knowing their patronage contributed to shopping small and helped the downtown Lapeer community.

Running through May 30, customers who patronize downtown businesses will have the chance to pick up a Lapeer Rewards Card from any of the participating businesses. Once a customer has received their Lapeer Rewards card, he or she can go to any of the participating businesses downtown, and after spending $5 or more, receive a stamp that is unique to that business. Once a participant receives 12 stamps, he or she can then bring the completed card to the Lapeer Main Street DDA office located inside of the Lyric Mall for verification and receive a certificate. Patrons can then take their certificate of completion to Lakestone Bank & Trust to receive a $25 reward

(while supplies last).

Shoppers must receive stamps from 12 different businesses for it to count, which means that each stamp must be different in order to enter for the gift card.

Visit www.downtownlapeer.com or Downtown Lapeer’s Facebook page to find a complete list of participating businesses and the official rules.
