Lapeer swim beats Caro, records 28 new PRs

LAPEER — Harnessing the ‘improving every day’ mantra, the Lapeer boys’ swim and dive team notched 28 new personal-best times in an 85-74 home win over Caro Monday at the Lapeer Community Center.

Lapeer’s top finishers were Morgan Turk (2nd 200 Free & 2nd 500 Free); Calvin Dion (2nd 200 IM & 1st 100 Fly); Grant Masterson (1st 50 Free); Carter Cerny (1st 1-Meter Diving); Reece Fisher (2nd 100 Free); Jacob Whitney (3rd 100 Back) and Dylan Fuchs (1st 100 Breast).

Lapeer began to exhibition races after the 200 freestyle relay when it had a substantial lead over Caro.

In the 200 medley relay, Fuchs, Cerny, Dion and Masterson were second in 2:06.47 and Fisher, Tom Tunison, Jake Parsons and Whitney were third in 2:23.35. Turk placed second in the 200 free in 2:45.63 and Tunison was third in 2:48.13. Dion was second in the 200 IM in 2:54.63 and Cerny was third in 2:57.79. Masterson was the first to the wall in the 50 free in 27.43 and Fisher was second in 28.06.

Cerny won the 1-meter diving with 172.05 points and Fuchs was second with 138.45. Dion won the 100 fly in 1:12.36 and Parsons was third in 1:29.06. Fisher was second in the 100 free in 1:05.15 and Masterson third in 1:09.29. Turk placed second in the 500 free in 7:43 and Miller was third in 8:01.74. Fisher, Cerny, Kristen Kautz and Masterson won the 200 free relay in 2:00.65 and James Scott, Jay Moore, Jasper Comeau and Turk were second in 2:15.49.

In the exhibition races, Whitney was third in the 100 backstroke, Fuchs won the 100 breaststroke and Moore was second. Fuchs, Kautz, Turk and Dion were second in the 400 free relay and Miller, Parsons, Tunison and Whitney were third.
