Higher enrollment results in two new teachers at LakeVille Schools

OTISVILLE — Thanks to enrollment higher than originally projected, the LakeVille Community Schools Board of Education on Tuesday welcomed two new teachers to the district during their regular meeting.

The two educators, Jessica Monchau (kindergarten) and Jennifer Starr (fourth-grade) will be joining the team at Columbiaville Elementary. According to building Principal Vanessa Ziobro, both new teachers are “excited to be on board,” and were selected by the hiring committee out of a candidate pool of 40 applicants.

“It was evident that when the two candidates (Monchau and Starr) walked into the room, they were the ones,” said Ziobro. “They might not have known it at the time, but we did.”

Of the unexpected bump in enrollment, LCS Superintendent Michael Lytle said it’s “great news” to be ahead of projections, and while official numbers won’t be known until final counts are performed later this month, the district is heartened by the added students. “We’re monitoring it on a daily basis to see where those numbers land,” he said.
