p.m. Therapy dogs are family pets
that are trained to provide affection,
comfort to people in hospitals, nursing, and assisted living facilities.
Dogs can be any breed or size.
Must be at least one year old and
have basic obedience and be well
socialized. This is a 12 week course.
Six weeks classroom instructions,
where dogs will be tested for the
Canine Good Citizen certification,
following five weeks of filed trips and
graduation. Class size is limited and

guest presenter is Erik Foster, MS,
BCE, a medical entomologist from
the Michigan Department of Health

Hospital that aims to educate the
greater Thumb Area community of
local resources and assets that will
help them achieve a healthy lifestyle

Auxiliary Hosts Annual Silvique Sterling
Silver Jewelry Sale at the Marlette
Regional Hospital (MRH) medical office
building lobby on Thursday, Aug. 16
from 8 a.m. too 4 p.m. The beauty,
affordability, and heirloom quality of
silver has made it the metal of choice
with many designers and consumers.
Silvique carries an extensive line of
sterling silver jewelry including rings,
bracelets, pendants, necklaces,
anklets, and more. They also carry
tungsten and stainless steel jewelry for
men as well as a line of sterling silver
children’s jewelry. There will be a wide

14th annual Hog Town Run Thumb
Region’s Largest Motorcycle Run
at Melvin Park located along Main
Street on Saturday, Aug. 11, registration begins at 9 a.m. This fundraising event sponsored by Hog Town
Inc. of Melvin, Michigan. A concerted
departure will take place at 12 p.m.
to travel to the Hospice Residence
located at Marlette Regional Hospital
in Marlette for a blessing of the
bikes. The registration fee is $20
per person, which includes a $5
raffle ticket. Evening activities will
include a pig roast/chicken dinner,
bike games, burnouts, live entertainment, and a 50/50 raffle. Rustic
camping is available for a donation.
