Veterans Affairs Committee seeks two candidates by Sept. 21

LAPEER — The Lapeer County of Veterans Affairs is accepting applications for two vacancies on the County’s Veterans Affairs Committee. The deadline for applying has been extended to Sept. 21.

Candidates must be a veteran who served honorably on active duty during:

• World War II era from Dec. 7, 1941 to Dec. 31, 1946

• Korean War era from June 27, 1950 to Jan. 31, 1955

• Vietnam War era from Feb. 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975

• Persian Gulf era, Aug. 2, 1990 to present

Veterans interested in applying must be a Lapeer County resident, have an honorable discharge and be recommended by a chartered veteran’s organization within the county.

The Lapeer County Board of Commissioners appoints committee members. One open vacancy expires Dec. 31, 2021, the second Dec. 31, 2020.

To apply, veterans are asked to send the recommendation letter and their DD 214 to Lapeer County Dept. of Veterans Affairs, 287 W. Nepessing, Ste, 2, Lapeer, 48446.
