OREGON TWP. — Summerfest Music Festival, presented by DB’s L.I.V.E., is a day to celebrate the talent of emerging, young musical artists, as well as artists that have already enjoyed success on their musical journey. The festival will be held today (Aug. 12) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Torzewski County Park, 2051 Pero Lake Rd. in Oregon Township.

Inspiration for Summerfest comes from DB’s L.I.V.E. owner, Deb Barber, a four-time Grammy nominee who wants to shine a light on what is possible when young artists believe in themselves.

Many artists to perform at Summerfest have studied with Barber and have launched their musical pursuits under her guidance.

Festival attendees will get to hear nine student bands, ranging from Youngbloods, the youngest band, to Frame 42, who has been on a busy performance schedule this summer at various festivals and gigs.

Joining the Summerfest lineup is Jena Irene Ascuitto, who was thrust into the national spotlight when she became the American Idol Runner-Up on Season 14. She has just released a new album, and in addition to performing, will share some guidance for young musical artists based on her unique experience.

Also to perform will be Genavieve Linkowski, a Goodrich resident who made it to Hollywood earlier this year on American Idol.

In addition to a full day of musical entertainment, audience members can cool down at the Torzewski Water Park ($6), or enjoy a meal from “Curbside Grill” food truck. There will also be other refreshments, many giveaways, activities and merchandise sales.
