Faith & community in Lapeer County

LAPEER — Lapeer County residents worship every week in nearly 100 churches from tiny rural churches with a couple dozen people seated on the pews every Sunday to the mega churches that draw hundreds from many miles around.

In our villages, cities and townships many large historic churches reach to the sky with their ornate bell towers and pristine white steeples — they’re literally the skyscrapers of our smalltown communities that have dominated the skyline for more than 150 years in some instances.

In today’s Insight section, The County Press is pleased to share stories about churches in Clifford and Dryden and their longtime ties to the communities they serve.

We welcome story ideas from readers about churches, pastors and religious servants who enrich their congregations and communities as well as local missions and programs that deserve recognition. Email your ideas to Editor Jeff Hogan at jhogan@mihomepaper.com.
