MARY EILEEN SHAVER, 77, a fifty year resident of Lapeer (formerly of Imlay City), died Friday, July 6, 2018.

Mary was born July 24, 1940, in Almont, daughter to William and Marion “Jo” (Hannan) Treadgold. She graduated from Imlay City High School, class of 1958. Mary went on to earn her nursing diploma from the Highland Park Nursing School. She worked over 25 years at Lapeer General Hospital where she was the ER supervisor for many years – she retired in 1987. Upon “retirement”, Mary went back to work as a home health nurse through the Lapeer County Health Department, a second career lasting over 15 years. Mary loved serving people through health care and continued by volunteering at McLaren-Lapeer right up until April of this year. Mary loved bird watching, fishing and word searches. She also adored and dearly missed her beloved companion Bridgett.

Mary is survived by her children, Michelle (Bill) Foy of Freeland and Brian Mauk of Burton; granddaughter, Hannah Foy; sisters, Kathy (Mick) Konarski of Kingston and Evelyn (Gary) Hoeksema of Imlay City.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Al Shaver in 2013; and her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the McLaren Lapeer Region Foundation (ER), 1375 North Main Street, Lapeer, MI 48446.

Mary’s family would like to especially thank the staff at Nicole’s Place - Mondeau AFC for their loving care over the past few weeks.”

Mary’s funeral service was held Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Burial followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Imlay City.
