‘Mother Goose is Eaten by Werewolves’ to be performed this weekend at PIX Theatre

LAPEER — The Center for the Arts Youth Theater will perform Mother Goose is Eaten by Werewolves by Steph DeFerie on July 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the PIX Theatre in downtown Lapeer.

Under the direction of Carolyn Dougherty, in this performance those in the audience will quickly learn that Mother Goose is no fool and as soon as she learns there are real werewolves in this production, she makes a break for it and it looks like the show is over before it’s even begun. But wait! Four adventurous audience members — a fairy godmother, a witch, a prince, and a wolf — save the day by acting out their own versions of Sleeping Beauty.

With the participation of a helpful stage manager and other members of the audience, a good time is guaranteed for all — it’s not Mother Goose, but it is hilariously entertaining.

This performance is a light hearted, witty, look at some of the beloved Mother Goose characters and will delight young and old alike. The cast includes Lapeerarea youth ages 7 to 18. “I am thrilled,” said Jill Lyons, executive director for the Center for the Arts. “This is the second fully produced project from our Theater Education program. It is a project very, near and dear to my heart. The cast features many students from our Theater Education program, some have been with us for three years. I can’t help but be proud of their growth and the growth of this program.”

The cast for Mother Goose is Eaten by Werewolves includes: Madyson Knickerbocker, Julien Chad, Gavin Wandrie, Chloe Caringi, Chloe Covert, Irelyn St. Louis, Morgan Castle, Katie Lovett, Jenna Smith, Jaxson Fedette, Zephyr Cook, Isabella Chad, Aurora Judd, Grayson Shadbolt, Jesse Ihrke, Jenna Smith, Danei Franklin, Abrahem Merrill, Aleah Hayes, Matthew Livingston, Katie Lovelette, Joella Caringi, Kat Droz, Kennedy Cavanaugh, Ryleigh Caldwell, Margo Ihrke, Austin Dantzer, Logan Diehl, Sorsha Vincent and Olivia Gyomary.
