How to write a will and establish power of attorney in three lessons

IMLAY CITY — VFW Post 2492, Imlay City at 598 N. Almont Avenue in Imlay City will host the first of three workshops Saturday, June 16 spotlighting the importance of writing a last will and testament as well as establishing a durable power of attorney to medical and financial matters.

Sponsored by the United Way of Lapeer County, the workshops will feature attorneys from the Lapeer County Bar Association and Legal Services of Eastern Michigan.

The Saturday workshop is from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include a light breakfast.

The other two workshops are scheduled for June 21 and June 28 at the Lapeer County Senior Center, 287 W. Nepessing. At the second meeting, attorney will review and discuss the filled out forms and at the third, the attorneys will have documents establishing a will and powers of attorney.

The workshops are sponsored by the United Way of Lapeer County and are open to veterans and their spouses. There is no charge but registration is mandatory. To register, contact Legal Services of Lapeer County at 800-322-4512, Ext. 115.
