The Willows Garden Club

LAPEER — For children and their families interested in learning a little bit about the world of gardening, the Willows at Chatfield School will be offering Garden Club, and educational family program. The club, open to all families, meets weekly throughout summer on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning June 18 and running through Aug. 20.

Each Monday evening session will include a lesson on garden maintenance, a prepared, garden fresh local food entrée and other relevant garden-centric subjects. The class is designed to be enjoyed by families, and will cover natural and cultural history topics including foraging, organic agriculture, food processing and preservation, beekeeping, permaculture, earthen ovens and native technology.

Children must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian, and a $3 fee per person each week will cover supplies and special seasonal prepared foods. Financial support for families in need is available by contacting Chatfield School principal Bill Kraly at bkraly@chatfieldschool.org.

For questions, contact program facilitators Peter McCreedy or Sue Jostock at pmcreedy@chatfieldschools.org or sjostock@chatfieldschools.org.
