This intensive, week-long art experience will extend beyond what students may experience in a school’s art class. Students will create ongoing projects in some of the following art mediums: Drawing, painting, Batik (wax and dye), printmaking, 3D projects (clay, assemblage, wire and plaster) and outside drawing on the grounds of the Chatfield campus.

The camp begins at 10 a.m. each day during the week-long experience and will culminate with a Saturday art exhibit and reception, featuring the works of the campers.

The LAA Summer Art Camp is fortunate to have four veteran art educators returning from last year to impart their artistic knowledge to the next generation. LAA members Marianna Fiedor, Caren Hulzenga, Mike Monville and Jacquie Piechowski, all of whom have been educating students for decades through art, will helm tutorials with each artistic medium throughout the week.

The LAA is pleased to have the support of the following local restaurants as they have all stepped forward to provide lunch each day for the campers:

Cavelli’s, Dagwood’s, Detroit Burger Bar, E.G. Nick’s and Woodchips.

The LAA Summer Art Camp is limited to 25 students between the ages 10-14 years of age. Parents can register their children online at www.lapeerart.org or in person at the Gallery 194 Gift Shop. Cost for this week-long art experience is $150 and will include a daily lunch and snack. The Lapeer Summer Art Camp is made possible through the support of Chatfield Schools, Cavelli’s, Dagwood’s, Detroit Burger Bar, E.G. Nick’s, Funkins, John Brooks Inc., The County Press and Woodchips.
