Chatfield Summer Ecology Camp

LAPEER — At the Willows Ecology Center at Chatfield School, home of the Summer 2018 Ecology Camp, students will be encouraged to explore one of the most amazing places in the world — their own backyard.

Students, under the guidance of Ecology Camp program creator and instructor Peter McCreedy, will nurture their relationship with the natural world and their community through hands-on activities that will focus on the environment outside their door. McCreedy, a Lapeer native, created the program in 1996 and is a lover of all things outdoors, including gardening, swimming and being in the woods. Students will learn skills in wild edible plants, building fires, aquatic ecosystems, survival, gardening and more.

The program is available for K-8 students and fees range from $45-80. The 6-8th grade students, for a cost of $85, will also feature an off-site canoe trip and bicycle trip on the Flint River Trail. K-1 and 2-3 students will attend from July 17-19, while 4-5 students will head to the Willows July 24-26. Lastly, the 6-8 students will close out the week of learning and adventure July 26-28.

Deadline to register is June 15, and space is limited. For more information, questions can be directed to McCreedy at pmccreedy@chatfieldschool.org or 810-538- 1741.
