LakeVille principal on grads: ‘This is a great group of kids’

OTISVILLE — Before handling the responsibility as principal of LakeVille Memorial High School, Kelli-Ann Fazer held the role at LakeVille Middle School. The students comprising the graduating Class of 2018 have known Fazer as an administrator since sixth grade, and as they get set to head out into the world, Fazer reflected on their growth as a class, and as individuals.

“I had them in middle school and now here in high school,” she said of this year’s seniors. “They had great habits in the middle school that have translated into high school. You don’t really know how it’s going to turn out, but these kids are confident and ready to take on new things, and it’s been an amazing transition.”

Fazer said among her seniors, four have been selected to attend The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, with another 28 heading off to other universities, including one student preparing to relocate to Bay de Noc College near Escanaba in the Upper Peninsula. 21 seniors will be heading to community college, and on-the-job training has been lined up for another 18. 9 seniors will be joining the military. “This is a great group of kids, they look out for each other and help each other,” she said.
