ROBERT V. BRUMAN

ROBERT V. BRUMAN, 65, passed away after a hardfought battle with cancer on April 1, 2018.

Bob was born April 12, 1952, in Brown City, to Mary (Schlaud) and George Bruman. Bob was a twin and grew up in North Branch in a farming family with eight brothers and one sister. He graduated from North Branch High School, Class of 1970.

Bob has been a San Francisco Bay Area artist and painter since the 1980s and a resident of Oakland, CA, for 26 years. He also worked and advocated for the disabled from the time he worked for the Disabled Student Program at UC Berkeley in the early 1990s up until his recent bout with cancer.

Bob was a big-hearted man who turned friendships into villages and could make a room roar with laughter. He had a heart for the less fortunate and could turn mountains into molehills. He was blessed with family and rich in friends, and always recognized the many amazing moments in life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Schlaud) and George Bruman; and his brothers John Bruman, Joe Bruman, Fred Bruman and Donald Bruman.

He is survived by his daughter and son-inlaw, Holly and Tung Lam; his grandchildren, Cameron Tran, Brandon Lam and Megan Lam; his twin brother, Bill (Susan) Bruman; his brothers, Leonard (Joan) Bruman, Lewis (Ruth) Bruman and David Bruman; his sister JoAnne (Terry) Haske; sisters-in-law, Luanne Bruman, Linda Bruman and Jean Bruman, Pat (Bruman) Smith and husband Bill; many nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, three great-great-nephews and a great-great-niece.

There will be a private burial of his ashes in Michigan and a Bruman Family Reunion will be held as a Tribute to Bob in late June. A California Memorial will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018, from 2-5 p.m., at Neyborly-Poet’s Corner at 2043 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley, CA 94702. In lieu of flowers, his family would ask that you support your local artist or share a meal with someone less fortunate. Should friends desire, cards or memorial contributions may be sent to his daughter and her family, Holly and Tung Lam, at 153 Hawthorne Ct. NE, Rockford, MI 49341.
