Lapeer County Concert Choir to present two spring concerts

LAPEER — With only a few weeks left, the Lapeer County Concert Choir is busy with final rehearsals for their upcoming spring concerts on Friday, April 27 and Sunday, April 29.

Since this is the choir’s 50th anniversary year, the concerts are entitled “A Season to Celebrate Life and Faith.”

Crossroads Baptist Church will host the April 27 performance at 7 p.m. The Sunday afternoon concert on April 29 at 4 p.m. will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer.

This is Edward Howell’s second year as director. He has chosen two major works for the choir, “Fern Hill,” which is based on a poem by Dylan Thomas, and “Songs of Faith” by Paul Basler. Additional songs will round out the program including a rendition of “Amazing Grace” with a bagpipe accompaniment. There will be several songs in which the audience will be asked to sing along.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students. These can be purchased from choir members, at the door, or online at www.lapeercountyconcertchoir.com. Doors open 30 minutes prior to performances. For more information, call 810-688-8708.
