Deputies honored for starting Rape Aggression Defense program

Lapeer Township resident Paula Proctor (left) shakes hands with Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Deputy Ryan Wilcox as Deputy Mariah Eckel looks on. Wilcox and Eckel led efforts to start a Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) program in Lapeer County last year. Proctor was introduced Thursday at the Lapeer County Commission meeting by Sheriff Scott McKenna because she donated $200 to RAD. Proctor surprised everyone by adding $800 to her original donation. “This is how important this program is,” Proctor said.
