NORTH BRANCH — The North Branch Days Committee has been hard at work putting together the 2018 edition of the yearly summer festival, and despite dipping volunteer counts, several events are expected for the weekend celebration.

Miss North Branch Days Pageant is planned for June 10, while the Beautiful Baby and Precious Pet Contests entries will be submitted between May 1-19, with voting May 23-June 23 and winners announced by June 29 and included in the grand parade

July 3 will feature the area’s annual Freedom 5K GLO Walk/ Run, sponsored by North Branch Family HealthCare – Dr. William Starbird and Anita Schierlinger, FNP. Check-in is from 8:45-9:30 p.m., the event begins at 9:45 p.m. and concludes by 11 p.m. Registration cost is $20 before June 22 and $25 after June 22, up to and including the day of event. The fee includes an event T-shirt and some Glo accessories. The Freedom Glo 5K Walk/ Run takes place at the North Branch Elementary School Walking Trail and is a non-competitive, family friendly event. Proceeds from the registration fees are donated to the North Branch Days Fireworks Fund.

On the Fourth of July, returning events include the OES Breakfast, grand parade, Knights of Columbus Chicken Dinner, Wells/Castle Horseshoe Tournament and area highlight fireworks.
