Team District Fallout

Photo by Susan Morse GENESEE COUNTY — Area high school wrestlers competed in team districts on Wednesday and Thursday, but none of our local teams made it through to the next round, regionals, on Feb. 14. Still, there is lots of season left, as the boys and girls are still very much in contention for individual district honors. Those contests took place Saturday, well after we went to press. Below we highlight some more of the area grapplers as they look toward Ford Field for the state finals in March.

Lapeer’s Gage Houghtaling, shown here at a meet at Davison last month, was among a small crop of wrestlers who chose not to go up against the No. 5-ranked Davison wrestlers at the Div. 1 team district at Davison on Wednesday. Lapeer bowed out against Davison, which also voided several weight classes against Lapeer.
