Lady Raiders win second in a row

The first quarter ended with Almont ahead 7-6 before it went on a 15-2 run in the second quarter to lead 22-8 at the half. In the third quarter, the Lady Raiders continued to pile on to their lead, outscoring Algonac 17-10 to lead 39-18 with one quarter to play. Both teams scored nine in the final frame for the 48-27 final.

Grace Zimmerman led the way with 14 points, hitting one shot from beyond the arc. Tyler Kautz had 12 points with two three-pointers, Meredith Rinke had 12 points, Kirsten Schapman had six points and Rachel Phillips had four to round out the scoring.

Almont, 3-5, traveled to Yale on Tuesday after press deadlines and will host Imlay City on Friday at 6 p.m. — A.V.

Alexys Anderson led Capac with 10 points in a 47-32 loss to league rival Cros-Lex Friday.

Capac trailed by five after one quarter and the hole got deeper 28-14 by halftime. Cros-Lex continued to outscored Capac in the third, 11-5, and only let off the gas in the fourth where Capac outscored the Pioneers 13-8.

Delaney Verschure put up seven points, Jona Mullin five and McKennah Hopkins and Natalie Maday three apiece. Shelby Husovsky and Aubree Smith chipped in with two apiece.

Capac was at Algonac yesterday after press deadline and hosts Armada Friday. — L.P.

LAPEER

The Lady Lightning were scheduled to face Saginaw on Friday, but the game was canceled. A rescheduled date has not been determined yet.

Lapeer, 1-3, traveled to Goodrich on Tuesday following press deadlines and will host Bay City Central on Friday. — K.R.
