KENNETH WALLACE BRISTOL, 61, of Almont, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at home after a brief battle with cancer.

Ken was born July 27, 1956 in Detroit. He was the son of the late Robert Wallace and the late Faye Bill (Wallace) Bristol. Ken grew up in Almont and was a graduate of the Almont High School, Class of 1975. He served in the

U. S. Army during the Post-Vietnam

War Era from 1975 to 1979. In the

Army, he earned the Good Conduct Metal, the Sharpshooter - M16 Badge, and the Mechanics Badge. Ken attended Ferris State University; he was a graduate of Davenport University - Master Mechanics program in 1999. He married Elizabeth Marie Burchfield Wells on December 30, 1995 in Coldwater. He was employed by Ford Motor - Engine Plant, Romeo for 19 years, most recently as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic; he was currently employed at the Ford Transmission Plant in Sterling Heights as a Hi-Lo Mechanic. Ken was a Journeyman Master Mechanic at Local 2280.

Kenneth is survived by: his wife, Elizabeth “Beth” Bristol of Almont; his sister, Ellen (George Wilson) Bristol of Belmont; two brothers, David (Mary) Bristol of Grandville and Paul (Susan) Bristol of Rockford, MI; a sister-in-law, Susan (Gary) Lafountain of Coldwater; and a brother-in-law: William (Darcy) Burchfield of Tekonsha, MI. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Erin (Peter) Wegener, Kelsey (Justin) Kata, Grady Wilson, Emma Bristol, Paige Bristol, Samuel Bristol, Andrew (Rebecca) LaFountain, Amy (Mike) Schultz, Michael LaFountain, Lacey (Jake) Stuck, Christopher (Tara) Burchfield. Ken’s special friends from North Branch were the Hilty’s, Josh, Jamie, Isabelle, Brennan and Maryn.

Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing and grilling. He was known for his cooking: “Grillin’ with the Big Guy, Never Trust a Skinny Chef”. Ken was especially involved with North Branch Wesleyan Church Waumba Land and MOPS and Wheelin’ Team 457.

The funeral services were held Thursday, January 4 at North Branch Wesleyan Church, 3164 North Branch Rd., North Branch. Pastor Josh Hilty and Pastor Peter Damaska officiated. There was a Veteran’s Salute and flag folding ceremony at church. Burial followed in Almont - Hough Cemetery.
