IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its annual Gala, to be held this year at the Countryside Banquet Center on Jan. 20, and the buzz for this year’s event is centered squarely on the upcoming official unveiling of details about this summer’s Michigan Busker Festival.

During the Gala, the Chamber will take the opportunity to reveal the logistics of the event. The Michigan Busker Festival has been developed in large part by the Chamber’s festival committee since its inception in November.

Taking place on Father’s Day weekend in June, the festival will be replacing the Blueberry Festival, and chamber members are excited to be moving in this new direction. “One of the things I want to cover with the announcement is what we won’t have at this festival that we’ve had in years past, and what we’re replacing them with,” said Imlay City Chamber of Commerce board member Rob Mette. “In my opinion, I’m really excited about it, that we think it will make it better.”

Attendees to the public Gala will be treated to performances from a trio of buskers, in order to provide a taste of things to come. The Gala will feature acts by slight-of-hand magician Mike Davis, the Striped Circus collaboration of aerial artists, stilt walkers, jugglers and more, and Ohjustflow, a performance artist from the metro Detroit area. “I’m very excited about the Imlay City Chamber Gala. You’ll see things you’ve never seen before,” said Imlay City Chamber Event Coordinator Shannon Hamel. “The food will be outstanding; beer and wine are also included. It’s kind of like a pre-busker show.”

The public is invited to the Imlay City Chamber of Commerce’s annual Imlay City Chamber of Commerce Gala, this year held at Countryside Banquet Center at 596 S. Cedar St. Cocktail hour starts at 5:30 p.m. with dinner starting at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and includes dinner, beer and wine, with cocktails available for purchase. The annual dinner and dance is yearly a premiere event in Imlay City, and one that Chamber members and the general public alike come out in force for. This year, the event will be combined with the Chamber’s annual awards ceremony and will feature awards presented to Citizen of the Year, Organization of the Year and this year’s Merit Award winner.

To purchase tickets, contact the Imlay City Chamber of Commerce office in the City Office at 150 Main St. by calling 810-724-1361.
