ONILLEE RUTH FRANTZ, 97, of Imlay City, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at home in Imlay City.

Onillee Ruth Speckmann was born September 8, 1920, in Flint. She is the daughter of the late Gustave and the late Gertrude L. (Lloyd) Speckmann. Onillee grew up in Mt. Morris. She attended Mt. Morris High School until she was whisked away by a boy from Imlay City. She married James W. Frantz on September 5, 1936 in Flint. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Frantz on December 8, 2001.

She was employed by the A & P Grocery Store in Imlay City as a cashier and bookkeeper. She also had worked at Hurd Lock in Almont, Imlay City Flower Shop, and had dipped ice cream at Tietz Family Dairy in downtown Imlay City.

Onillee was a member of the First Baptist Church of Attica, the I. C. Friendship Chapter #252 of the Order of the Eastern Star (past Worthy Matron 1967-1968), Chaplin of the Order of the Eastern Star, past-president of the Lapeer County Association of the Order of the Eastern Star, past-president of the Eastern Michigan Association of the Order of the Eastern Star, Grand Representative of Montana in Michigan of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Onillee is survived by two daughters, Florajean Langley of Imlay City and Ginger (Doug) Miller of Imlay City; two sons, James (Karen) Frantz of Ortonville and Orill (Linda) Frantz of Ennis, MT; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2001; sister, Carroll (Russell) Freeman; brother, Raymond (Martha) Dickinson. She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters-in-law.

The funeral was held on Friday, December 1 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City. The Ladies of the Order of the Eastern Star officiated. Burial followed in Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City.
