LAPEER — Stone’s Throw Theater has relocated their holiday show A Taffeta Christmas to a new host facility at Beyer’s Furniture. Originally slated to take place in the expansion space of Woodchips, it was decided to relocate after a few logistical issues came about prepping the space for the show.

“We are sad that we will not be presenting our first show in the Woodchips location, it really will be a beautiful facility for both entertainment and yummy grub,” said Stone’s Throw Theater founder Tony Stroh. “They have been extremely supportive of this project, and we will look forward to working with then on other productions in the future.”

Stone’s Throw Theater will take over the far eastside of their showroom for the four performances scheduled this December. “With that said, we are equally thrilled to have a new partner and hosting facility with Beyer’s Furniture, the Beyer family has been a long standing supporter of the arts and community for generations,” said Stroh. “When they learned of our need for a new home for the show, we jumped at the chance to use their space.”

A Taffeta Christmas tells the tale of Christmas in Muncie, Indiana, and The Dumont Television Network is featuring the bright-eyed and bubbly 1950s girl group The Taffetas on its weekly show Hometown Hoedown. Dishing out a collection of favorites from the original Off-Broadway hit The Taffetas, effervescent new songs, and seasonal classics, A Taffeta Christmas is a twinkling hometown holiday the way it used to be.

Fitting with Stone’s Throw Theater’s mission to make use of vacant storefronts and unique environments for productions, the production will take place at 441 W Nepessing St. inside Beyer’s Furniture. This space is being made available through the generous support of Beyer’s Furniture, and other sponsors for this production include Aspen Creek Studios, Jocuns Law Offices, the Lapeer Downtown Development Authority, Lakestone Bank & Trust, Woodchips BBQ and media sponsor The County Press.

Stone’s Throw Theater is the result of decades of experience in theater and the performing arts. For more than 30 years, Stroh- Piechowski has managed nonprofit and for-profit arts organizations across the United States as well as producing shows internationally for theme parks and cruise ships. Along with Stroh-Piechowski, other team members of Stone’s Throw Theater include Head of Musical Theatre at Oakland University Fred Love, who will serve in the capacity of director for upcoming shows and a still-forming board of directors that will include members involved with Lapeer’s cultural arts, education, business or non-profit scenes.

A Taffeta Christmas is a limited engagement of only four performances with 50 seats each. Friday, Dec. 8, Saturday, Dec. 9, Friday, Dec. 15 and Saturday Dec. 16 with all shows starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for A Taffeta Christmas are $18 for adults and $15 for senior, student and military.
