Ruth Fox students to host vet-themed program

NORTH BRANCH — Students at North Branch Area Schools’ Ruth Fox Elementary will be doing their own Veterans Day celebration on Nov. 22 at 8:30 a.m., complete with a presentation of colors by the North Branch American Legion and many other veteran-themed activities throughout the day.

“This is an amazing day filled with celebrating and highlighting the brave men and women of our community,” said Ruth Fox Elementary School Principal Cindy Howe. The annual event brings area veterans together with students each year as both a celebration of the vets and an educational experience for the students.

Among the activities planned are a special pledge of allegiance and Star- Spangled Banner, guest speakers, creative writing presentations for veterans, military service songs and a presentation of gifts and certificates to attending veterans. Following the day’s activities, coffee, cookies and conversation will take place in the Ruth Fox cafeteria.

The event is open to the public and anyone who wishes to attend is invited.
