Carol King tribute concert Nov. 11

LAPEER — On Saturday, Nov. 11 a concert and retrospective ‘Tapestry, the Carole King Songbook’ will appear on the PIX Theatre stage in downtown Lapeer for a onenight only show.

“Tapestry” recreates the sound and vibe of a 1970’s Carole King concert experience following her legendary album, Tapestry. Audiences are transported back to the iconic sounds of her multi-million selling album of 1971. Impeccable attention to detail is taken in recreating a respectful and accurate musical presentation of piano and vocals, just as they were.

The performance is led by musician Suzanne O. Davis, who channels King, emulating the legendary singer in likeness, energy, audience interaction and piano playing, matching the vibe of a vintage Carole King performance.

For Davis, music has always been a driving force in her life as a vocalist, flute player, pianist, teacher and high energy performer. Her roots started in Ohio at the age of 5, where she was enrolled in children’s programs at the Cleveland Institute of Music. As years passed, she studied in proper classrooms, private lessons and universities, and now brings all of these facets together to make each performance a combination of integrity, sophistication, and rock ‘n roll.

Having played on some of the finest stages to standing ovations in several countries around the world, Davis has toured in production tribute shows to ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, and many other variety shows. She has had the opportunity to share stages and open up for acts such as America, KC and the Sunshine Band, Taylor Dayne, Eddie Money, Orleans, Gary Puckett, the Village People and BJ Thomas.

The performance of “Tapestry” aims to take audiences on a journey back to those great recordings. Davis and her world-class band will be presenting the complete Tapestry album, along with many 1960’s hits from the Broadway smash musical ‘Beautiful’. This includes songs recorded by the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, The Shirelles, the Monkees — and more. Along with the huge catalogue of hits, Davis also brings stories about the songs and the history of Carole’s incredible career.

“Tapestry: North America Premier Tribute to Carole King” will take the PIX stage on Saturday, Nov 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors, students and military in advance and are available online at www.centerfortheartslapeer.org/tapestry a_ tribute_ to_ carol_ king/index. php or by contacting the PIX box office at 810-664- 4824.
