RUSSELL BERNARD BECK, SR.

RUSSELL BERNARD BECK, SR., 89, of Metamora for 31 years (formerly of Detroit), died Saturday September 9, 2017.

He was born January 1, 1928, in Detroit, to parents Bernard and Doris (Polhamus) Beck. Mr. Beck, immediately out of school, served his country in the United

States Navy during WWII.

He returned home to find work at

Ford Motor Company. Russell later married Barbara Ann Frederick on January 6, 1968. Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) and Alcoholics for Christ (A.C.) were very important parts of his life; he recently celebrated 65 years sober. Russell was a long term member of Hadley Community Church. He enjoyed his time at Hadley Acres Golf & Country Club; golf leagues. Russell was proud to have released a tape of his own, recorded church hymnals, “He Touched Me”.

Mr. Beck is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara A. Beck; children, Doris Ann (Bob) Kosmicki, Robin Beck, Patty (Jack) Conklin and Russ B. (Angie) Beck, II; 10 grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren; as well as sister, Gen Ogrady.

He was preceded in death by a son shortly after birth; a brother; as well as his parents.

Mr. Beck visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. His funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday September 14, 2017 at Muirs, officiated by Pastor Wally Rose, concluded with an active duty military honor guard salute. Burial will be private and scheduled for a later date in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
