KENNETH RAY EMERY, 71, of Lapeer (formerly of Oakland County), peacefully died Thursday September 7, 2017 surrounded by family.

He was born December 14, 1945, in Pontiac, to parents Cletus and

Margaret (Whitehead) Emery. Mr. Emery served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era.

He returned home to find work at General Motors. Ken enjoyed watching sports on TV, bowling, dancing and going to the flea-market. He struggled with his health over the last several years; yet he always had a warm smile he wore in front of his big, selfless heart. Ken was happy riding his red scooter, just about everywhere and showing birds. Those were nice opportunities to people watch. Above all else, he found peace in watching his grandchildren at play and loved his whole family.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 10 years, Barbara Jean Emery; children, Stephanie (Bill Plummer) Madison, Scott (Jenny) Emery, Tonya (Aaron) Wentz, Dave (Molly) Graybill, Michael (Ashley) Graybill; many grandchildren; siblings, Stan Emery, Kathie Davis and Roger (Nancy) Emery.

He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Pamela Jean Emery; son, Marc Emery; granddaughter, Maysie Madison (just this year); as well as his parents.

The family has entrusted Ken’s wishes of cremation to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. A cemetery pavilion service will be 2 p.m. Thursday September 14, 2017 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, with an honor guard salute. PLEASE arrive between 1:40 and 1:55 p.m. - no earlier.
