Fifth annual View Brew Fest is Saturday

LAPEER — Get your taste buds ready, the fifth annual View Brew Fest is set for 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at Louie’s Sports Tavern.

Advance tickets are on sale now for just $15 and include three drink sample tickets and a souvenir tasting glass.

“It’s hard to believe we are in our fifth year,” said Emily Caswell, brand manager at VIEW Group and one of the organizers of the event. “We’re happy to say we’ve grown each year and while we keep the great parts about View Brew Fest the same, we are always adding and tweaking the event to make each year memorable.”

Those additions this year include three live bands. Returning to the event to open the day are The Locals. New to the event are young country act Allie Louise and closing out the day is Showdown.

“Showdown is an awesome band wellknown in the Lansing area,” said Caswell. “We are super excited to have them come out and absolutely rock View Brew Fest this year.”

Also new is an inflatable tavern and an early entry option. A $25 ticket will allow guests to enter the fest at 2 p.m. for a more private sampling opportunity.

Returning this year is great food by Louie’s Sports Tavern, close to 100 craft beers to choose from around the U.S. and the cigar tent, which was added last year and had a great response. Thanks to the Community Spirit Sponsor Genisys Credit Union, guests will also once again have the opportunity to buy a $5 raffle ticket at the event that enters them to win a wheelbarrow full of craft beer. Proceeds from that raffle will benefit The Daisy Project.

Additional drink sample tickets are $1 and can be bought throughout the day.

“As craft beer festivals continue to grow in popularity around the state, we continue to aim to keep ours top-notch and affordable,” said Caswell. “Keeping drink sample tickets at $1 is one way we’re doing that. Louie’s Sports Tavern also lowered a few of their food prices this year.”

Proceeds from the event benefit the Lapeer County Hockey Association. In its first four years, View Brew Fest has raised $23,000 for this organization. That money has helped to provide medical and safety equipment to players, provide scholarships and keep the cost of youth hockey affordable.

The popular View Brew Fest VIP Party will also return this year. Tickets are $50 and include entry to the exclusive VIP event 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at Louie’s Sports Tavern plus early entry to the fest on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. The VIP event includes complimentary appetizers, an open bar, live music, a tap throw down, networking and more.

View Brew Fest is presented by Jim Riehl’s Friendly Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. Other sponsors include: McLaren Lapeer, Kapala Heating and Air Conditioning, Byran’s Supermarket, Michigan Web Press, MedStar, Genisys Credit Union, Lapeer Wine & Spirits, Smokers Palace, Got You Covered, Floyd DeLong & Son Excavating, Wojo’s, Louie’s Sports Tavern and many supporters and fans.

Volunteers are still needed and receive free entry to the event and a free T-shirt. For more info, to volunteer or for sponsorship opportunities call Emily Caswell at 810-452- 2608.
