Miss Lapeer Days Pageant winners crowned on Saturday

Photos by Jeff Hogan LAPEER — Lapeer Days 2017 royalty were crowned Saturday afternoon at the Miss Lapeer Days Pageant held at the PIX Theatre in downtown Lapeer. The festival runs Aug. 18-20, though the carnival rides open the evening of Aug. 16.

Sydney Thayer was crowned Miss Lapeer Days 2017, while Junior Miss this summer is Liliana Czapiewski, Little Miss is Rachel Bartlett and Tiny Miss is Lilliana Kain.

The pageant was comprised of four contests. Tiny Miss was open to girls ages 3-5; Little Miss ages 6-9; Junior Miss ages 10-13 and Miss Lapeer Days was open to girls ages 14-18.

Winning second place for Tiny Miss was Mallory Sells, while third-place went to Ava Grace West. Winning second in the Little Miss contest was Mya House and third was won by Elly Vezzetti. The second place winner for Junior Miss was Juliann Grace Bright and third place was won by Holly Hudson. Zoey O’Neil won second place, and Alexanderia LaSalle took third in the Miss Lapeer Days contest.

Judges for the pageant included: Emily Caswell, View Newspaper Group; Tony Monteleone, Lapeer Kiwanis Club; Tony Stroh, The PIX Theatre Group; Olivia Nagel, Two Men and a Truck; Dr. Hannah Mikulich, Wolfe Family Chiropractic and Pete Garber, retired U.S. Marine Corp. Emcee for the pageant was Dr. Alex Wolfe, Wolfe Family Chiropractic.

Pageant winners will ride in the Lapeer Days parade, as well as participate in other festival activities as their schedules allow.

A Queen’s Court Tea Party on the courthouse lawn, open to the public, will be held following the Lapeer Days parade that starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19.
