Dryden Township hall to get a new roof

DRYDEN TWP. — Dryden Township trustees voted Tuesday to pay Apex Restoration and Construction $14,600 to replace the roof on the township hall.

Township supervisor Tina Papineau said the company, which has offices in Shelby Township and Metamora, was expected to begin work on the roof, which was originally put on in 1987 and is now leaking, this weekend.

The township wants the work done in advance of repaving the parking lot later this summer.

In other business:

• Trustees also voted to spend $5,000 to equip the Dryden Township Police Dept.’s new Ford Explorer Interceptor and to put the department’s old 2007 Chevrolet out to bid.

The township will accept bids on the SUV through Aug. 7 and accept the highest bid at its Aug. 8 meeting. Anyone interested in placing a bid should call the police department at 810-796-2271.

• Trustees agreed to hire Tyler Scicluna as a part-time police officer. The 24-year-old is a recent Central Michigan University graduate and lives in Clinton Township.

The police department’s part-time administrative assistant became even more part-time. Trustees agreed to hire Lynne Furgerson to split the part-time position with the current part-time assistant.

• Trustees also accepted the resignation of Paula Kukes, the police department’s long-time custodian, who’s leaving for health reasons.

• Trustees agreed to lease a Ricoh copier for $129 a month for use at the township hall.
