Master Gardener Tour is July 22

Photo by Phil Foley LAPEER COUNTY — Tickets are still available for the 2017 Master Gardener Tour and Fairy Garden Contest, set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 22.Mary Payne, chairman of Lapeer County’s Master Gardener Program, said tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the tour. Tickets are avail-able at the Extension Service Office at 1800 Imlay City Rd., in Lapeer Township; Burke’s Flowers, 148 W. Nepessing St., in Lapeer; and Campbell’s Greenhouse, 4077 Burnside Road, in North Branch Township.Payne said Behind the Garden Gate will feature six gardens this year, four in the Lapeer area, one in Columbiaville and one just a smidgeon outside Lapeer County in Oxford Township.Payne said the tour can be taken in any order, but if you didn’t get advance tickets, a good place. to start will be the Display Garden Garden at Suncrest, 1455 Suncrest Dr., Mayfield Township. Along with getting a look at the garden’s extensive features, people will be able to get a look at the Fairy Garden Contest entrants.The Fairy Garden Contest is free and open to anyone.

Entry forms are available at www.lc-mga.org/pro-grams-events or you can call Marlene Daniels at 810-664-8317. First through third place prizes will be awarded in two catego-ries ages 15 and under and 16 and up. All entries must include live plants and be delivered to the Display Gardens at Suncrest between 8-10 a.m.Along with the display gardens, this year’s tour will include the Hunter Garden, Monteleone Garden and Kee Garden, all in the Lapeer area and the Delisi Garden in Columbiaville and the Vukonich Garden in Oxford Township.Proceeds from the tour help support the Display Gardens.
