Photo provided IMLAY CITY – Carly Livingston, a senior at Imlay City High School, committed to Grand Valley State University in a signing ceremony held on Tuesday to further her track career as a pole vaulter. Livingston has been running track for six years and vaulting for five. She also ran cross country and played volleyball for a year.
After looking into Tiffin, Ohio University, Saginaw Valley State University and Aquinas, Livingston chose GVSU for its strong track program and the pole vault coach. Livingston mentioned that she is most excited to vault at the collegiate level and is both excited and nervous about moving from home. As for her education, Livingston plans on majoring in sports marketing and accounting.
Livingston is not quite sure where she will fit in during her freshman season, but does know that she will be focused on pole vaulting only and will not be running. When asked who she wanted to thank most for their support throughout her sports career, Livingston said, “my high school track coaches, and Craig Dickinson, my pole vaulting coach, and my mom.”
