Getting to know our LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

Lapeer County residents and visitors are served and protected every day by dozens of law enforcement officers on departments big and small. We’re also fortunate in our communities that the incidents of crime are relatively low, and the success rate by officers and detectives to solve crimes are high.

Lapeer County is served by the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept., the Michigan State Police and police departments in Almont, Dryden Township, Imlay City, Lapeer, Lapeer Township, Mayfield Township and Metamora Township as well as officers from the Thumb Narcotics Unit.

In today’s Insight section, The County Press team of writers introduces our readers to our county schools’ liaison officers and the Metamora Township Police Department as well as a look back at the career of former Sheriff Ron Kalanquin.

In coming weeks, our staff will continue the exploration of our county’s law enforcement agencies.
