ELAINE SCHETTLE

ELAINE SCHETTLE, 89, of Imlay City (formerly of River Grove, IL), went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Marlette United Hospice Residence in Marlette.

Elaine Marie Schettle was born April 18, 1927, in Gladstone, MI. She is the daughter of the late Otto Anderson and the late Hilda (Major) Anderson. She grew up in Gladstone and Ontonagon, MI, and is a graduate of Ontonagon High School.

She married her husband Victor John Kangas and was preceded in death by him in 1971. Elaine married her husband William John Schettle and he passed away in 2004.

When Elaine was younger, she was employed as a baker in a bakery in Franklin Park, IL. While she lived in Illinois, she worked as an office clerk. Most of her adult life, Elaine was a homemaker, raising her family.

She was a member of River Grove Bible Church and Ontonagon Baptist Church.

Elaine is survived by son-in-law, Carl (Brenda) Hardies of Imlay City; five grandchildren, Kristofer (Dusty) Hardies of Clifford, Kim (Leo) Osantowske of Washington Twp., Melissa (Josh) Gekeler of Grandville, MI, David (Rossy) Ostrander of Phoenix, AZ, and Vanessa (Ryan) Maxson of Toledo, OH; seven great-grandchildren, Liam, Madilyn, Tyler, Rowan, Isabell, Aleni and David III; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Victor John Kangas and William John Schettle; daughter, Verlyn Marie Hardies; her son, Daniel John Kangas; two grandsons, Jonathan Hardies and Benjamin Hardies; two brothers, Herb Anderson and Walter Anderson; and one sister, Elizabeth Kasen:

A funeral service was held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Imlay City Christian Reformed Church, 395 Cedar St., Imlay City. Reverend David Spoelma officiated. Burial was Friday, March 17, 2017 in Elmwood Cemetery, 2905 N. Thatcher Road, River Grove, IL.
