MAXINE ABBOTT, 99, a lifetime Lapeer resident, died Thursday, January 12, 2017.

Mrs. Abbott was born July 1, 1917, in Lapeer, to John and Carrie (Keyes) Eckersley. Maxine graduated in 1934 from Lapeer High School and married Ralph Abbott on October 13, 1941, in Perrysburg, OH. Mrs. Abbott was a member of Life Fellowship Chapel in Davison and previously a longtime member of Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer. She worked many, many years for Lapeer Community Schools, at Farnsworth School, Turrill Elementary School and White Junior High School primarily. Maxine had many different responsibilities at the schools including librarian, secretary and teacher’s aide. Family was everything to Mrs. Abbott! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Jim) Ferrier of Lapeer; grandchildren, Amy Dahl of Lapeer, Andrea (Steve) Glamzi of Custer, MI, and Aaron (Jackie) Ferrier of Redwood Falls, MN; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Katie, Wyatt, Eli, Kennedy and Kolie; sister, Wilma Koski of Lapeer; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Eckersley of Lapeer and Betty Eckersley of Mt. Pleasant; and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Abbott; parents, John and Carrie Eckersley; siblings, Willard Eckersley, Zola Wilson, Dean Eckersley and Edwin Eckersley; brothers-inlaw, Wally Koski, Chester Stone and Roger Wilson.

Visitation will be Noon-4 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Mrs. Abbott’s funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, at Muir Brothers in Lapeer. Pastor Ty Woznek and Pastor Arnold Bracy will officiate. Burial will follow in Stiles Cemetery.
