The LakeVille graduate walked twice and scored the game’s first run before rain, hail and high winds washed out the rest of the scheduled nine-inning game. The contest started in bright sunshine at 6 p.m. but ended in the top of the fourth when the storm blew in and drenched the field.

Warner played for the Black team, which scored five runs in the first inning and still led, 5-1, when the game was called. The Aquinas College-bound Warner scored the first run on a double by Flushing’s Kennedy Boulton. She led off the bottom of the third with another walk but was stranded at first base.

A double by Clio’s Shannon Huntley, and singles by Bentley’s Angel Campbell and Fenton’s Sarah Halstead also figured in the Black team’s rally. The Gold team scored in the top of the second, sparked by consecutive singles by Swartz Creek’s Allie Brookman and Lauren Adas to open the frame. — D.N.
