Phone company made repairs after outages reported in northern reaches of county

COLUMBIAVILLE — Intermittent issues with a signal path are being blamed for a series of phone outages that effected Frontier Communications customers in Marathon Township, North Branch and Brown City last week.

Sarah Norat-Phillips, Frontier’s East Central Michigan General Manager, said a total of 2,400 customers were affected, though not all at the same time in three outages.

The last outage hit Marathon Township at 11:15 a.m. Jan. 6 and technicians restored service by 12:50 p.m. In the process, said Norat-Phillips, technicians uncovered two separate technical issues that have since been resolved.

“Phone service has been stable since that time but the signal path continues to be monitored closely and if any additional issues surface they will be immediately addressed,” she said.
