Frances Walker

FRANCES WALKER, 90, of Imlay City, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at Genesys Medical Center, Grand Blanc. Frances H. Cowan was born August 15, 1922, in Deckerville, the daughter of Alvin and Alinia Cowan. She grew up near Deckerville and graduated from Deckerville High School Class of 1939. She married Harold L. Walker in 1950. Frances and Harold had lived in Imlay City since the late 1950's. Harold died in 1985.

She worked as a teacher's aide for special needs children at Imlay City Community Schools (primarily at Weston Elementary and later at the High School). Frances was a member of the Imlay City First Congregational United Church of Christ, and the "Congregators." She also sat on the Imlay City Election Board, and enjoyed attending the "Red Hat Society" gatherings.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen (Ed) Caesar of Swartz Creek and Marilyn (Al) Bingamen of Plymouth; grandchildren, Christopher Caesar, Nicholas Caesar and Gregory Caesar; and great-grandchildren, Layla, Addyson and Christian.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and brothers, Edward Cowan and infant twin brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Imlay City First Congressional United Church of Christ.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Imlay City First Congregational United Church of Christ. Interment was at Forester Cemetery in Forester, MI.
