Rupert George Cooke
RUPERT GEORGE COOKE, 80, of Lapeer, died Monday, June 25, 2012. Mr. Cooke was born December 19, 1931, in Windsor, Ontario, son to Rupert and Frances (Cottle) Cooke.
Rupert worked as an insurance adjuster, specializing in casualty and property claims. He was president of the Michigan Insurance Adjusters Association and a member of the Lapeer Optimist Club for many years. Rupert was an avid hockey player and fan his entire life. He even played hockey in the Senior Olympics in 1980, winning a gold medal.
Mr. Cooke is survived by his wife, Patricia Cooke of Lapeer; children, Cathy (Troy) Bond of Columbiaville and Jeffrey (fiance, Melanie Pirronello) Cooke of Walled Lake; grandchildren, Carly Bond and Nicholas Bond; siblings, Elaine (Tom) Perks of Oregon City, Oregon and David (Connie) Cooke of Windsor, Ontario; and brother-in-law, John Waddell of Tecumseh, Ontario.
Rupert was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert and Frances Cooke; and sister, Joyce Waddell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Alzheimer’s Association.
A memorial service for Mr. Cooke was held Friday, July 27, 2012 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 1021 S. Main St., Lapeer, Michigan 48446.
