Roadwork Update: 10:00 a.m. June 13, 2012 - Road commission closes roads for culvert replacement
LAPEER COUNTY — Motorists planning to use Norman Road between Brown City and Cade Roads in Goodland Township or Brocker between Baldwin Road and M-24 in Metamora Township today should look for alternatives.
Lapeer County Road Commission crews are replacing two culverts on Norman and one on Brocker, which means both roads will be closed most of the day. The work on Brocker, a commission spokesman said, is close to the M-24 end of the road.
Motorists should also keep an eye out for slow moving vehicles on gravel roads in Burlington Township, since road commission crews will be grading and brining there.
They will also be crack sealing on Lum Road and mowing along primary and local roads throughout the county.
Road commission officials urge motorists to slow down in construction zones and keep an eye out for road workers. Conviction of injuring a road construction or maintenance worker can result in up to a year in jail and $2,500 in fines, while conviction of killing a road worker can lead to 15 years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
