SOUND OFF Some people are getting bent out of shape, but Lapeer schools had to do what they’re doing. There have been too many elementary schools so now they have to get rid of a few of them. I don’t like the idea of closing down Lapeer West, but on the other hand this is a much smaller district than when I was in school here. I hope the people support the schools. Helen Grindell Lapeer Township Common sense? I feel bad for the guy who died on Stanton Lakes, but come on people what ever happened to common sense? He and his family are in my prayers. I just hope no one else repeats this sort of foolishness. Penny Roultson Imlay City Keep West open! I have two kids at Lapeer West and would appreciate it if they stayed right there until they graduate. This school district is very messed up, but don’t hurt the kids in the process because some bad decisions have been made in the past. I guess what astounds me is that we paid a huge bond to build two middle schools, and now we’re going to put ninth graders in there? These same projections have been there, year after year so why is this happening? Debbie Thompson and the board should be ashamed of the mess they helped create. Sara Dobly Metamora Township Public trust tested This paper has become nothing but a PR vehicle for the schools. Nearly everyone on that current school board (except Bill Laidlaw who is now gone) was on that board a few years ago when these numbers were on a deep slide. So why the middle schools? Why the expensive sewer to Elba, why the new office and renovations to Maple Grove and why the new classrooms at Seaton? Why? They wasted a lot of money and public trust. Francis Zackowski Oregon Township Need more answers Hogan and Wandrie are a perfect pair. Dreamers. It would appear they have this all worked out in their minds. I thought the paper was supposed not to have opinions on things they report on. That’s not the case in my opinion. There are a lot of questions now, and we need more answers. You seem to print only what the district is doing, and not what we really think. Lindie Montz Mayfield Township Homeschool for sure I think they should’ve closed a lot more elementary schools during the last few years. This is an absolute mess now. We’re going to homeschool our two sons for sure. Colette Paulson Lapeer |
